/ the premise

Everything around usis changing.

AI is rewriting industries and compressing timelines. It will transform CPG—but not the everyday needs behind it.

People will still eat, drink, recover, perform, and choose products that fit naturally into their lives.

Technology can make CPG businesses leaner and smarter. As products become easier to create, weak brands become easier to copy—while brands that earn memory, trust, and habit grow more valuable.

We invest in what does not change.

/ the thesis

We invest in
what endures.

Ten chapters on what is changing, what endures, and where we invest.

00

what does not change

Human needs do not become obsolete.

People will continue to eat, drink, recover, focus, sleep, socialize, and build rituals around products they trust. These are not passing trends. They are recurring behaviors expressed through new ingredients, formats, and brands.

Technology will reshape how consumer businesses are built and operated. It will not remove the demand beneath them. That gives CPG a durable foundation—and gives better businesses more efficient ways to serve it.

01

the consumer arc

First less. Then more. Now, right for me.

Consumers first removed what they believed was holding them back: sugar, artificial ingredients, alcohol, and complexity. Then they added benefits—protein, fiber, hydration, probiotics, adaptogens, and functional ingredients.

The next wave is personal. Wearables, GLP-1 adoption, biomarker testing, and rising health literacy are giving consumers more information about their bodies—and raising their expectations of what products should do.

The brands that win will translate that complexity into something human: products people understand, identify with, trust, and return to because they work.

02

the healthspan signal

Nobody wakes up wanting to buy longevity. They want to feel better tomorrow.

Healthspan makes longevity practical: more energy today, better recovery tomorrow, greater strength at 55, and more mobility at 65.

GLP-1 adoption is one signal of a broader shift. As consumers become more informed about their bodies—and more intentional about what they consume—they expect more function from every bite and sip.

The best opportunities will not feel like medicine. They will feel like everyday products with a better reason to exist.

where we invest

Protein. Fiber. Modern hydration. Sober-curious.

Beverages are our starting point—where our operator experience runs deepest and new consumer behavior often appears first. We follow that behavior beyond the bottle into shots, powders, sachets, pouches, gummies, functional foods, and snacks when the occasion and brand architecture are strong enough.

We invest in two kinds of opportunity: categories where behavior is changing, and categories where behavior endures but the brand vocabulary has fallen behind.

The question is not what can be sold. It is what consumers are beginning to do differently—and whether this product is the natural answer.

04

what we look for

We look for what compounds.

Six lenses shape our conviction: habit power, memory in the mind, occasion to ecosystem, obvious function, signal over noise, and future buyer gravity.

Products can be copied. Memory, habit, and genuine consumer pull are harder to copy.

Explore the six filters.
05

why sgv wins

Our edge is operator pattern recognition—not financial engineering.

We have spent decades building and operating inside one of the world’s most iconic functional consumer brands. We know the difference between consumer pull and distribution push, staying power and rented attention, momentum and noise.

Our advantage combines operator judgment, Memory Stack discipline, and AI-native diligence. Each sharpens the others. Together, they help us see what the numbers cannot show yet.

That matters most early—before the brand architecture is obvious and before conviction becomes consensus.

06

how we help

We are not passive capital.

We work with founders where occasion, claim, brand, and commercial sequence meet. We help sharpen what the product should own—and why consumers should return to it.

Our support is practical and selective, grounded in the decisions that shape relevance, distribution, and durable growth.

The goal is not dependence. It is clearer sight, more intelligent movement, and a stronger company after we step back.

See how we work.
07

portfolio construction

The platform must earn the right to scale.

We begin concentrated. Each investment must fit the behavioral thesis, benefit from our operator edge, and carry credible exit logic from the start.

We scale in stages—only as judgment becomes evidence and the model earns greater conviction. The objective is not more positions. It is a stronger portfolio.

Strategic acquisition is the primary path we underwrite. Real inventory, purchase orders, retail velocity, earlier bankability, and a path to cash-flow positivity preserve additional options.

Explore the platform.
08

the team

Operators who recognize the architecture early.

Our experience spans brand building, distribution, product launches, and operating complexity across major global markets.

We have seen great products fail when the brand architecture was weak—and good products become great companies when the occasion, memory structure, and emotional promise were right.

SGV exists because we have seen the pattern enough times to recognize it before the numbers make it obvious.

Explore our experience.
09

the core conviction

The next decade will reward brands that help people feel, function, and live better for longer.

Consumers will still choose with their senses. Taste, beauty, identity, and emotional connection will matter. But they will expect products to deliver more for their bodies, goals, rhythms, and lives.

As more of how businesses are built becomes automated and interchangeable, daily habits, trusted brands, and human connection become more valuable—not less.

Function is the new flavor. We invest in the brands that make better living feel personal, desirable, and human.

from removal
to relevance.

Consumer expectations are evolving through three overlapping waves: removing perceived negatives, adding active benefits, and seeking products shaped around the individual. Each wave raises the standard for relevance—and for repeat behavior.

01

subtraction

Better first meant removing what consumers believed was holding them back: less sugar, fewer artificial ingredients, less alcohol, and simpler labels. The promise was avoidance—cleaner, lighter, easier to understand.

The next wave is not simply more function.
It is function that feels right for me.

/ where we invest

We back the behavior,
not the format.

We look for enduring consumer needs gaining new relevance—where function creates a clear reason to choose, return, and build a habit.

01

protein

A durable need expanding across meals, snacks, beverages, and life stages. We look for a clear occasion, credible benefit, and repeatable reason to choose.

02

fiber

A fundamental need entering modern daily routines through better formats, clearer benefits, and more relevant language.

03

modern hydration

Hydration rebuilt around distinct occasions—daily use, recovery, performance, focus, and social life—with a reason to return.

04

/ what we look for

Six filters.
Ranked by what
actually compounds.

01

habit power

+

Does the product earn repeat behavior—not just a first purchase? Habit is the strongest early evidence that the product belongs in someone’s life.

02

memory in the mind

+

Can the brand hold a distinct, durable place in the consumer’s memory—and be chosen before the consumer reaches the shelf?

03

occasion to ecosystem

+

Can one clear starting moment expand naturally into more occasions, formats, and parts of daily life?

04

obvious function

+

Is the benefit real, felt, trusted, and clear enough to travel without explanation?

05

signal over noise

+

Is momentum driven by genuine consumer pull—or by distribution, promotion, and manufactured attention that may not endure?

06

future buyer gravity

+

If this works, which strategic buyer will eventually need to own it—and why will building be less attractive than buying?

Products can be copied. Memory, habit, and genuine consumer pull are harder to copy. That is why the order matters.

/ how we work

We work where
decisions compound.

For portfolio founders, our role is selective and practical. We concentrate on the early decisions that shape what the brand means, how it reaches the market, and why it endures.

01

occasion and ownership

Define who the product is for, when it matters, and what the brand should own in the consumer’s mind.

02

claim and promise

Pressure-test the functional claim and refine the emotional promise that gives consumers a reason to believe—and return.

03

commercial sequence

Shape distribution, retail strategy, launch planning, and the order of commercial moves so growth builds on evidence.

04

intelligence and access

Apply AI-enabled sourcing, trend detection, consumer insight, diligence, and selective network access where they can change the decision.
